Senior Pastor (Randal E. Pelton)
My life and ministry are fueled by a desire to expose people to the life-giving Word of God which displays His gracious gift of the Lord Jesus Christ. I began to sense God’s call to teach the Scriptures early in college through the guidance of my local church pastor. That desire to teach the Bible took me for training at New Brunswick Bible Institute (diploma, 1983), Washington Bible College (bachelors degree, 1984), and Dallas Theological Seminary (Master of Theology, 1989). At DTS I began to take an interest in homiletics (teaching of preaching) and felt that God might one day allow me to help train others to study and teach His Word. During my seminary days in Dallas, I served as a Bible teacher in the Inner City Bible Ministry and during that time became interested in Michele Miller who was also serving in that ministry. Michele and I were married in 1987 in Charlotte, NC, Michele’s home town. She is the best, largely because she still displays the same sensitive-to-God heart she ministered with in the inner city. After seminary, I spent two years in administration, teaching, and coaching at Washington Bible College. God was gracious to allow me and Michele to be shepherded and trained by Dr. Jeffrey Watson at Grace Bible Church in Lanham, MD. I was ordained under their authority. During that time I became convinced that God wanted me to enter pastoral ministry and to continue teaching the Bible and training future practitioners. In August of 1991 Michele and I and our 9-month-old, Moriah, moved to Somerville, New Brunswick, Canada to begin pastoring The People’s Church with my former teacher, coach and mentor, Robert McNutt. During those years God blessed Michele and me with two more children: Michael and Amanda. Those years also created an increased passion for teaching the Christ-centered Scriptures and teaching others to teach them, too. This led to my enrollment in Dr. Haddon Robinson’s first Specialist Tract in Preaching at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where I graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1996. After twelve plus years in New Brunswick, Canada Michele and I decided to accept the Senior Pastor position of Calvary Bible Church so I could continue teaching the Scriptures, studying hermeneutics and homiletics, writing, and training pastors as God gives opportunity. I have enjoyed taking Ph.D. level classes in Hermeneutics and Bible Interpretation at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. I am privileged to teach preaching classes at Lancaster Bible College’s Graduate School and also to coordinate and mentor pastors in their newly formed Haddon Robinson School of Preaching. I also enjoy the pleasure of mentoring pastors alongside Dr. Jeffrey Arthurs in Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry track, Preaching the Literary Forms of the Bible. Active membership in the Evangelical Homiletics Society helps my feet in the world of academia while I enjoy the privilege of shepherding God’s people at Calvary Bible Church. I am fortunate to serve a faith-family that allows me time to continue to train practitioners. On a lighter note (pun intended), I still love lifting weights at Mount Joy Fitness. Much to the chagrin of my family, I also enjoy learning to play the tenor saxophone. In recent years I enjoy shooting traditional archery (long bows in particular), riding my 1987 HD FLHS, and tying and wearing bowties, especially the one hand-made from Mainebows.com.

Associate Pastor (Richard J. Hurlbert)
Our Associate Pastor is Mr. Richard J. Hurlbert. Pastor Rich is married to Terri and they have two daughters, Taylor Paige and Whitney Morgan. Pastor Rich has been a member of Calvary Bible Church for twenty years but is new to the staff. After having taught Bible in two Christian schools for over fifteen years, he felt the Lord leading him into a new area of ministry. The Lord opened the door for him to minister in his own home church as Associate Pastor. Pastor Rich earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Bible (specializing in Christian Education) from Lancaster Bible College in 1982. Pastor Rich enjoys antiques (because he is becoming one), the great game of golf and spending time with his family.

Youth Pastor (Jonathan S. Kauffman)
My passion for students began in high school while counseling at Circle K Camp. Upon graduation from Donegal High School, I attended Word of Life Bible Institute and graduated in 2003 (1-year Bible Certificate). From there, the Lord eventually led me to Lancaster Bible College, where in 2006 I earned my Bachelors of Science in Bible/Youth Ministries. During that same summer I married Rebekah, whom I met at Word of Life Bible Institute. She graduated with a two-year Bible Certificate and is currently an LPN.

I have been a part of Calvary Bible Church for 15 years and have been involved in the Youth Ministry for 5 years. Following graduation from LBC, the Lord opened up the door for me to continue serving at CBC in the role of Youth Director. I enjoy soccer and almost every other sport, and both my wife and I love the outdoors and all that it has to offer!

Mrs. Sandy Peters
Mrs. Sandy Peters has ministered as our church secretary for the last eight years. Sandy handles a multitude of responsibilities, including church correspondence, sending of missionary prayer letters, bulletin preparation and organization, as well as keeping the pastoral staff in some kind of order.

Sandy and her husband, Richard, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. They are thankful for their two sons, Philip and Mark. Phil, his wife Lisa and daughters Amy & Grace live in Chesapeake, Virginia. Mark is only an hour away in Baltimore, Maryland.

Some of Sandy's hobbies include taking long walks with her husband, reading Christian legal thrillers, playing the piano and watching "Gaither Homecoming" videos.
